Mac Airport Leopard Problems

So you updated your Mac OS Leopard to the new 10.5.1 and suddenly you are having problems with your WiFi connection. This happened to me, sometimes I am connected and sometimes not, restarting did not solve the problem. I had to do some online search to find out how to solve this problem. I thought I will share my findings:

I think there is a bug in the Airport driver but until Apple fixes it, there is what to do:
  1. On your Router change the Wireless Mode to G-Only
  2. On your Router change the Wireless Security Mode from WEP to WPA or any advanced security mode higher that WEP.
  3. If you have multiple wireless profiles, delete them and keep only one.
This should get you going till the next Leopard update.

If this solution doesn't help, then you can try plugging in the power supply. For some reason, this improves the WiFi strength of the Macbook...

If you tried other solutions and they worked, please feel free to share them with us.

After upgrading a MacBook CoreDuo to Leopard, my Airport is inactive and does not respond to activation command. ¿?

Have you tried deleting the AirPort profile from the Network Preferences and reinstalling it?

Hi folks, this can b solved by configuring the airport express usng an lder release of utililty running on tger (or even windows...)
My airport express was alread configured we I switched to leopard. Problem occured when I changed the settings through the airport utility in leopard.

Thank you for your posts. Apple has issued the update 10.5.2 that promises to fix this Airport bug. For those of you who had installed this update, could you tell us if it fixed the problem?

I have Leopard 10.5.8. My iMAC is connected to a Belgacom BEBOX, via Airport and Ethernet. The Airport connexion does not work since 3 weeks anymore. Your suggestions do not change anything. I believe it has to be with an upgrade of the OS, as it was working fine when I bought the PC! What is strange is that I can connect to all external connexions (my neighbours), apart from mine... Crazy stuff. In Ethernet mode, it works fine... luckily...

If you are able to connect to your neighbors' then your airport is working fine. Try deleting your wifi network and connecting again.
Go to System Preferences --> Network --> Advanced then select your Network name and delete it then try adding it again.
If you have not restarted your iMac for a while, it might help if you did.

Hi Jorge,
What router do you have? Changing router settings is specific to each router, I do not know what router you have but I am sure that you can find instructions in the user manual.
As for deleting the airport profile, you can get there by clicking on System Preferences --> Network
